Our Flintstone countertop “Granitizing” system uses liquid polymer technology to create a beautiful, seamless surface on your existing countertops. The new surface has the appearance of granite or stone. This is an ecologically sound process that uses waterborne components and eliminates the need to take discarded countertops to the landfill.
So how does it work? Well, first we prepare the room to protect your valuable belongings and reduce the spread of dust and odors in your home. Next, we repair any damaged areas of your existing countertops.
Once the damaged areas have been repaired, we will begin to prepare the existing surface to receive the new Flintstone material. This is a lengthy process.
Now that the countertops are prepped, we can start to apply the Flintstone colour you have chosen. Flintstone goes on as a liquid, then bonds to the old surface as a solid. Once we have built up the Flintstone material to the required thickness we set up fans to begin the water leeching process. This will take up to an hour and a half in most cases.
Following the dehydration process, we begin to apply the hard shell, which is a tough aliphatic acrylic polyurethane material that is exceptionally hard and durable, but still somewhat flexible to allow for normal swelling and shrinking of your countertops. Embedded in the clear hard shell are special stain resisting chemicals that will make your new countertops easy to clean.
We follow these operations with a total cleanup of the work area, removing all waste materials. The entire process is usually completed in just one day, and with our special offer we will resurface up to 15 linear feet of counters in one room for just $699.
Once we leave, you must leave your new Flintstone countertops alone for 24 hours to allow proper curing of the chemicals.
