Search Help
Introduction
Access to the Canadian Trade Index directory on-line is free.
The Canadian Trade Index Web Site allows you three search options:

Quick Search - search directly from the Home page or from the top right corner of any page on the site at any time.
This option allows you to:
- Search by Product Description (default)
- Search by Company Name
- Search by Trademark Name
- Advanced Search - search from the main page of the "Search the Canadian Trade Index" section.
This option allows you to:
- Search by Product Description (default)
- Search by Company Name
- Search by Trademark Name
- Limit your Search to selected provinces.
For a smaller, more focused search results check the "Exact Match" box.
Detailed Company Profile and Contact Information can be viewed for all businesses that match your search criteria by following Company Name link. Visit the Company Information Page to further review their products/services and capabilities. Detailed information about our advertisers usually includes a company ad, product category listings, a website address, indexed catalogue pages, export information, branches/distributors information and an option to contact them on-line.
Search by Product Description
To search by Product Description, follow these steps:
- Click the radio button beside Product Description for Search Criteria.
- Type in the product/service name (part of the word, one or two words) in the Search Keyword(s) text box. The search keyword(s) is not case-sensitive.
For example, type the word batteries. A long list of Product Headings displays from "BATTERIES: Accessories" to "BATTERIES: Wet".
You can narrow your search to a more specific product description. Check "Exact Match" box if you know exact Keyword(s) (this feature is only available using the Advanced Search option)
- Select a province from the drop down box for Location. To search Canada-wide, leave (Anywhere) in the box.
- Click the "Search" button.
The "Product Headings Found" table displays 15 to 20 records per page of search results depending on the number of advertisers that are listing the product found.
To navigate through the records use " Prev" or "Next  " buttons.
To refine your search at any time use the " New Search" button.
To display company information for the product heading click the product name link or one of the numbers for a chosen option. The "Company Headings Found" table displays 15 records per page of your search results. Advertisers in the Canadian Trade Index are listed first followed by an alphabetical listing of other company matches.
To navigate through the records use " Prev" or "Next  " buttons.
To return to your product headings search result at any time use the " Back" button.
For each company listed, the table allows you to (where applicable):
- Click Company Name link to visit detailed Company Information Page.
- Click the Ad
 icon to see company advertising information.
- Click the Product List
 icon to see an alphabetical product category list.
- Click the Website
 icon to connect to the company’s Website.
Search by Company Name
To search by Company Name, follow these steps:
- Click the radio button beside Company Name for Search Criteria.

To search by Trademark Name, follow these steps:
- Click the radio button beside Trademark Name for Search Criteria.
- Type in the trademark name (part of the word, one or two words) in the text box. The search keyword(s) is not case-sensitive.
- Check "Exact Match" box if you know exact Keyword(s) (this feature is only available using the Advanced Search option)
- Select a state/province from the drop down box for Location.
- Click the "Search" button.
The "Company Headings Found" table displays 15 records per page of your search results. Advertisers in the Canadian Trade Index are listed first followed by an alphabetical listing of other company matches.

Viewing Company Information Page
Detailed Company Profile and Contact Information can be viewed for all businesses that match your search criteria by following the Company Name link on any search result page. The Company Info screen of Canadian Trade Index Advertisers may also include enhanced company advertising information.
For our advertising companies listed, the table allows you to (where applicable):
- Click the Enhanced Ad icon to see enhanced company advertising.
- Click the Product List icon to see an alphabetical product category list.
- Click the Website icon to connect to the company’s Website.
- Click the Export Regions
 icon to see a list of export regions.
- Click the Branches
 icon to to see a list of company's branches.
- Click the Contact Us On-line
 icon to contact the company by email (if they have provided us with an e-mail address).
- Click the Request For Quotation link to submit an RFQ to the company by email (if they have provided us with an e-mail address).
By submitting the supplied Feedback form you can forward any type of request or questions directly to the company. To use this feature you must be registered with Canadian Trade Index.
To return to any search result at any time use the " Back" button.
Note: Usually the company 1-800 toll free numbers listed are accessible from within the North American continent, however, each company individually decides the area from which you can contact them toll free.
Printing Search Information
To any page from the web site, simply click the appropriate page to be printed and click the print icon on the top menu bar of your browser.
For example: to print search information click at any place in the search result page and then choose Print from your browser menu.
